Race Reports: ARC'TERYX
I’ve written a handful of athlete race reports and adventure editorial for Arc'teryx, and the point of each one is the runner behind the result. For me, and I think for many interested readers, a finish time tells you almost nothing on its own. What a report can do is put a reader inside a runner's actual race, from what they carried in, the training and feelings and objectives, to what stayed with them once it was over.
I get there by talking to each athlete myself, after the race. Those calls are where the real material comes from: what their training and overall feel looked like, and what shifted for them somewhere in between. The writing follows that arc instead of the results sheet, so each report reads like one specific runner's race, not a template with a new name dropped in. One example is Martin Kern’s REFLECTIONS piece, found here.
Specifically, I also wrote content for each of the athletes who participated in the brand’s training camp, which was then translated by the team to live on each of ARC’TERYX’s dedicated market accounts. I also wrote the athlete announcement for Natalie Beadle joining the team.
