Translation: Babolat company portrait for Trafalgar
In another life, I was interviewed by the team from Caracole for a piece around a brand whose image I was building. Fast-forward a few years, and their founder Marion Derouvoy was looking for a native English-speaking translator for her new company, Trafalgar Maison de Portraits. Their mission is to provide haut couture writing services for brands, companies, and individuals who are interested in employing a richer language experience within a specific piece of content. These pieces tend to take the form of portraits, either about the company itself or key individuals across its history.
Maison Trafalgar’s style distinguishes them as literary, poetic, and audacious. In turn, transforming their portraits into English is more of a creative interpretation or rewriting than it is pure translation. Adapting their intricate, nuanced phrasing is delicate, passionate practice. Our first collaboration was for their work with the leading French tennis brand Babolat.
